The Forest Bathing Club exists to enable people to reconnect to nature as a way to heal themselves, their communities, and the planet. I started working with Julia Plevin, the founder of Forest Bathing Club, after traveling to Japan to immerse ourselves in Japanese forest bathing, otherwise known as shinrin-yoku, which means “luxuriating in the forest.” This practice of mindfulness in nature emerged in the 1980s and has been scientifically proven to lower blood pressure, reduce stress, boost the immune system, and improve overall wellbeing. My designs reflect the practice of being in nature with an added touch of excitement and happiness…which is what I felt after being in Japan with Julia. I hand illustrated the icon, playful characters, and branded squiggles to expand upon the brands lively, natural and most of all human qualities.
